The BDVA 2018 Symposium is calling for contributions in the area of Visual Analytics and Immersive Analytics of Big Data. Submit your work and be part of a vibrant venue that will bring together an exciting programme with internationally renowned keynote speakers, special sessions, and workshops:

Visual Analytics plays a major role in the analysis and decision-making processes for science, industry, and government organisations. Immersive Analytics combines the well-established field of Visual Analytics with Virtual and Augmented Reality to empower multi-sensory experiences. Recent immersive technologies bring promising opportunities to interact with Big Data, coming from geo-science, biomedical applications, collective behaviour, text mining, crime analysis, among others.

Symposium topics include but are not limited to:

  • Theoretical Foundations of Immersive Analytics
  • Immersive Storytelling
  • Collaborative Visual and Immersive Analytics
  • Personalized Visual and Immersive Analytics
  • Use of Mixed Reality for Analytics including Situated Analytics
  • Visual, Audio, Haptic and Multisensory Data Presentation including Data Physicalization
  • Human-Computer Interaction including Use of Natural Interfaces for Analytics
  • Analytical Reasoning and Sense-making of Big or Complex Data
  • Scalable Visual and Immersive Analytics including HPC for Visualisation
  • Responsive Analytic Algorithms for Interactive Data Exploration
  • Big Data Management, Transformation, and Presentation
  • Context-driven User Querying
  • Semantics-driven Visual and Immersive Analytics
  • Applications and Case Studies

Workshop Submission Info

A workshop might be a hands-on workshop presenting specific tools or technologies, a workshop containing different talks on specific topics, or a panel discussion, etc.

The preliminary schedule of the workshop looks like the following, but please note that you are free to find your own schedule and workshop length and format.

  • Friday 19.10.2018 (preliminary schedule, parallel sessions possible)
    • 09:00 – 10:30 Workshop I: Morning Session
      • 10:30 – 11:00 Morning Coffee Break
    • 11:00 – 12:30 Workshop II: Noon Session
      • 12:30 – 14:00 Lunch Break
    • 14:00 – 15:30 Workshop III: Afternoon Session
      • 15:30 – 16:00 Afternoon Coffee Break
    • 16:00 – 17:30 Workshop IV: Evening Session

As you can see, there is a single workshop session at the end of the conference. You are free in finding your own schedule and format, but please contact the Workshop Chair to discuss the details.
